Job Opportunity: Outpatient Pediatrics Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shifts, Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), 40 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in an outpatient pediatric clinic focused on congenital heart conditions.
  • Care for both pediatric and adult patients; pediatric experience is required, adult experience preferred.
  • Cardiology experience is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with pediatric patients, including pediatric cardiology
  • Cardiology experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Completion of Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening (state-mandated).
  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, nationwide sex offender check, and review of all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
  • Physical exam (to meet agency standards).
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof (one adult dose required).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers; medical or religious exemptions considered.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer; medical or religious exemptions considered.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if applicable.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season).
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology (if applicable).
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Facility-specific forms including communicable disease form and acknowledgment of safety manuals.
  • Telemetry testing:
    • Pediatric Telemetry Test required for all pediatric inpatient units; this position is outpatient but may require verification depending on assignment.
    • Adult Telemetry Test required if applicable.
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG/medication competency as required.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Annual skills checklist and employment application required.
  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard).

Additional Notes

  • Strict deadlines apply for completion of required tests and documentation prior to start date.
  • Remediation and retesting policies are in place for telemetry and competency exams.
  • Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines require specific forms and approval processes.
  • Background checks with pending charges or convictions require additional review before start.
