Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Work Settings: MedSurg/Telemetry, Telemetry, PCU/Stepdown units
• Float: Required to float to MedSurg units
• Clinical Skills Required:

  • Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
  • Ability to start IVs
  • Manage Heparin protocols and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Travel Experience: Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid RN license in Alabama

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills
• Experience with Heparin protocols
• Ability to manage cardiac drips
• Experience in Med Surg / Telemetry settings

Required Documentation & Background Checks

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Social Security number (full number required for access initiation)
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years, including:

  • Social Security trace
  • Statewide and nationwide criminal checks
  • National sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks including all aliases
• Official transcript, diploma, or third-party education verification
• Skills checklist (annual)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal not required by client)
• Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
• Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD) within past 12 months; follow-up chest x-ray if positive
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required year-round; decliners must wear a mask at work)

Additional Information

• Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start
• Competency exams required as applicable to specialty
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required to meet Joint Commission standards (not client-mandated)

This position is ideal for RNs with strong cardiac monitoring skills who are comfortable working night shifts in PCU/Telemetry and MedSurg settings. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
