Job Opportunity: Pathology Assistant

Newark, New Jersey

Schedule

Day shift: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (40 hours per week)
No weekends or holiday shifts required

Job Description

Assist in pathology laboratory with surgical pathology tasks including frozen sections and handling high-complexity specimens such as mastectomy, nephrectomy, thyroidectomy, colectomy, hysterectomy, and others.
Perform gross examination and evaluation of complex surgical specimens.
Handle a daily caseload of 30-50 specimens.
Work exclusively within the pathology lab; no floating to other departments.
Use equipment such as cassette labeler, Dragon voice recognition, tissue processor, Windows 10 systems, and cryostat.
Dress code: Any color scrubs or smart casual.

Required Qualifications

Pathologists' Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Experience as a Pathologists' Assistant within the last year.
Experience with frozen sections in surgical pathology.

Pros

Staff and management are very friendly. The ratios are pretty good. Sometimes it gets very busy and sometimes transport is put in by someone else before you even have the patient ready to go. They are very flexible with scheduling and their weekend requirements are reasonable.
