Registered Nurse – Neuro Telemetry 2
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Unit: Neuro Telemetry
Unit Size: 32 beds
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 7pm to 7am)
Hours per Week: 36
Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 8 weeks
Holidays: Worked into permanent holiday rotation
Patient Ratio: 1:4

- Tracheostomy patients
- Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Spinal surgery
- Encephalopathy
- End-stage renal disease (ESRD)
- Psychiatric issues
- Brain tumors
Job Description
- Fast-paced, high turnover unit with an average length of stay of 4-5 days
- Central monitoring telemetry; must be able to interpret EKGs
- No ventilator patients on this unit
- Charge nurse role includes light patient assignment
- Nurse aides available (Day: 4, Night: 3) to assist with basic care (blood sugars, vital signs, straight catheterization)
- Float assignments include cardiac telemetry, telemetry overflow in ICU, and med-surg units
- Use of Cerner EMR system with WOWs (workstations on wheels)
- SIMs Lab training required for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
- Day 1 pass/fail exam during orientation
- 2-day floor-specific orientation
- Teaching hospital environment; nursing students may be present
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
- Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
- Scrub color: Steel gray
Required Certifications and Exams
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts; failure results in 6-month disqualification in region)
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of core nursing experience in specialty or related area
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Prior travel experience required for Neuro ICU or Emergency Department roles
- Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team
- Must pass all onboarding requirements by deadline (no pending items allowed)
- No concurrent contracts allowed while working this assignment
- Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings

- Located in a large tertiary care teaching hospital with 607 beds
- Associated with a world-renowned neuro institute
- Parking assigned with shuttle service for day shift; parking garage for night shift
- IV team (SWAT RN) available for difficult IV sticks
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available 24/7
- Hospitalist or intensivist not in-house on this unit
- Day 1 orientation includes lifts, restraints, and wound care education (non-competency pass/fail)
- Common medications titrated on unit include Heparin, Amiodarone, and Cardizem
- Must include unit size, hospital size, trauma level, and Cerner EMR experience in profile submissions
- Minimum contract length: 13 weeks
