EMT - Emergency Services

Location

• Asheville, North Carolina
• Emergency Department (ED), 101-bed unit
• High-volume ED with >100,000 visits annually
• Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center

Employment Type

• Travel assignment
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Scheduled for 36 hours per week
• Scheduling: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
• Floating: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections

Unit Environment

• Patient ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation system: Cerner
• Team known for strong teamwork and welcoming culture
• Serves a multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken

Required Qualifications

• Valid EMT / ER Technician license in North Carolina
• EMT / ER Technician (2 years of experience)
• EMT / ER Technician experience within the last year
• OEMS Certification
• Ability to read telemetry monitors

Certifications (Must have before start date)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training)
• OEMS

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy scrubs required
• Procedures performed in unit include telemetry monitoring and emergency care interventions
• Attendance policy provided on day 1
• Department recognized for teamwork and dedication to patient experience (AIDET, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates)
