Overview

  • Travel/Contract RN/PCU in Kansas City, Missouri
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Ratios: 1:4
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • First-timers accepted
  • Locals accepted
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • No on-call
  • No block schedule
  • No more than 7 days RTO
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Pacemakers/Temporary/Permanent
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
  • TAVR
  • Titration of Insulin drips
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Central line care/management
  • Peripheral Line Care/Management

Unit / Setting

  • SICC is a 26-bed unit caring for thoracic and vascular surgery patients immediately post-operatively after recovery from anesthesia and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients upon transfer out of CVICU
  • Post-operative patient population includes CABG, valve replacement (AVR, MVR, TVR), aortic aneurysm repair, esophagectomy, thoracotomy/VAT, carotid endarterectomy, TAVR, BKA/AKA, and femoral to distal bypass
  • Common care includes chest tubes, epicardial wires and temporary pacemaker, wound vacs, multiple IV drips, telemetry, central venous access (Cordis, TLC, CVAD, PICC), dressing changes/incision care/open wounds, blood product administration, epidural/PCA pain management, bladder scan, and tracheostomy
