Registered Nurse - CVICU (Saint Louis, Missouri)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks (preferred; 13 weeks acceptable)
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (can sign for 36 or 48 hours)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Job Description
- High acuity Cardiac ICU (CVICU) requiring specialized Cardiac/CVICU ICU experience
- Care for patients with acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, fluid overload, post cardiac arrest, complete heart block, cardiogenic shock, pre-heart transplant, arrhythmias, ventricular tachycardia
- Management of ventilators, arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, pacemakers, Impellas, balloon pumps, LVADs, intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Experience with vasoactive drips, central lines, PA/TVP catheter monitoring, dialysis, Foley catheters
- Floating within the service line may be required
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Must pass Relias EKG competency exam before starting
- Experience in ventilator management, arterial line management, pacemakers, Impellas, balloon pumps, LVADs, vasoactive drips, PA/TVP catheter monitoring, and dialysis
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated quarterly
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination (with unit-specific exemptions)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start, including HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and latex allergy questionnaires
- Background checks and state-specific searches required for Missouri placements

- Time off requests limited to 2 requests totaling no more than 40 hours (5 days) during the contract
- Orientation parking available with fees; night shift parking is free in employee lots
- Charting system: EPIC
- Facility is a Magnet & Teaching Hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
