Job Details
- Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Charleston, South Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
- Work Hours: 40 hours per week
- Cath Lab Rooms: 5 plus Hybrid OR
- Call Requirements: On-call 1-2 nights per week, one weekend in a six-week period, holiday call possible
- Local Candidates: Accepted within 60 miles radius (rate adjusted accordingly)
- Start Date: Approximately 2-3 weeks from offer
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in the Cath Lab setting, supporting a variety of cardiac procedures including:
- Right and Left Heart Catheterization (Diagnostic)
- Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), Complex PCI, Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO)
- ASA, PFO/ASD closures, MitralClip, Watchman device placement
- Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Valve (PTMV), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Peripheral and vascular interventions
- Preferred experience with scrub techniques in Cath Lab procedures
- Note: During hurricane season (June-November, peak in August-September), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Completed and accurate I-9 form with work eligibility attestation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if verification pending
- South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers check (for sub vendors)
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or fewer if applicable)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if prior positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccines with boosters if low/negative titer)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season, August 1 - March 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blindness test prior to start
- General competency exam required
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) before starting orientation
- Upload a clear, passport-style badge photo (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire) by Wednesday prior to start
Additional Notes
- Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without it
- All licensure and certification documents must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start
- All required documents and certifications must be uploaded and approved prior to start
- No block scheduling accommodations available
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions apply and must be disclosed at submission
