Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Night Shift, Weekends Only)

Job Overview

• Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to similar patient populations in other units including Emergency Department.
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, weekends only (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon). Other weekend combinations will not be considered.
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current NIHSS certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) completed within 12 months and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be done under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions. Latex allergy notification required if applicable.
• Fit mask (N95) test within 12 months and updated annually; religious or medical exemptions require approval.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history of positive TB
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Modules include training videos and tests that cannot be skipped.
• Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed during orientation with required passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%). Retakes allowed with remediation.
• SafeMedicate prep materials provided before orientation exam.
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.

References & Work History

• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is accepted to meet recent experience requirement; however, no explicit prior travel experience is mandated beyond that.
• Candidates must be prepared to float to other units caring for similar patient populations as needed.
• Schedule is strictly weekends only with no exceptions for other weekend combinations.
• Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date.
• All certifications and licenses must be current and valid at the time of assignment start.
