Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech

Location: Sacramento, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform routine and specialized breast imaging procedures to produce quality diagnostic images.
  • Work independently using sound judgment and clinical skills to ensure safe, precise, and timely procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to gain cooperation and confidence.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
  • May perform specific procedures and orient new staff to the department.

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Mammography Technologist license in California
  • ARRT Mammography (ARRT M) certification required
  • ARRT Radiography (ARRT R) certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Mammography Technologist experience
  • Mammography Technologist experience within the last year

Background and Screening Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including Social Security trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
  • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
  • EPLS, GSA, SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks required as applicable.
  • Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification required for highest level achieved (not required if highest education is high school).
  • Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
  • Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
  • Two professional references required (Aya requirement only).

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years.
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD with annual renewal.
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30).
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually (exceptions apply).
  • Color blindness exam required if applicable (in-person exam only).

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on position (verify with employer).

Facility-Specific Documents and Compliance

  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
    • Job description
    • Standards of business conduct
    • Vendor training
    • Code of conduct
    • Overpayment refund policy
    • Conditional offer of employment attestation
    • Religious accommodation forms if applicable
    • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider
  • Photo for badge required for per diem positions.
  • Personal or auto insurance required only for driving positions.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with religious or medical exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval.
  • Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training.
  • Candidates must comply with all immunization and screening requirements to maintain clearance.
  • Employment history and references are critical for clearance but will not delay client clearance.
