Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Distribution (SPD) Technician is responsible for decontaminating, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation for cases, clinics, and nursing units. The role ensures compliance with AAMI and infection control standards, supports Operating Room needs by providing disposable and reusable equipment, and dispenses supplies for surgical cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Reassemble and package instrument sets accurately following department policies and manufacturer instructions.
• Perform manual and mechanical cleaning of reusable instruments and equipment.
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, defects, and proper functionality.
• Use electronic equipment to inspect electrosurgical instruments and cables.
• Restock specialty carts and supply systems as needed.
• Document completed work and verify sterilization processing parameters.
• Sterilize instrument sets according to policies and manufacturer instructions.
• Pick supplies for same-day and next-day surgical cases.
• Respond to telephone inquiries from internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Technician with 8+ years of experience
• Sterile Processing Technician experience within the last year
• 3-4 years of travel experience
• Certification: CRCST or CSPDT
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Borescope, OneSource, and SPM systems is preferred.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Day (Evening shift title may indicate shift timing; confirm during interview)
• Hours per day: 8
• Hours per week: 40
• Contract length: 13 weeks
