Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Mammoth Lakes, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour varied shifts (approximately 36 hours per week)

Job Summary

Provide nursing care to surgery patients in the Operating Room (O.R.)
Initiate and implement plans of care based on medical, surgical, and nursing diagnoses
Coordinate with other departments and ancillary personnel to ensure patient safety and high-quality care
Supervise personnel and oversee patient safety, supplies, equipment, and asepsis in a single O.R. unit

Key Responsibilities

Assess and monitor patients’ physical status using interviews, observations, records, and diagnostic results
Communicate effectively with patients to understand their needs related to surgical procedures
Identify necessary nursing interventions based on surgery type, illness, injury, or disease
Anticipate potential problems and adapt to changes during surgery, including emergencies
Maintain sterile field competency and prepare necessary equipment and supplies before cases
Understand expected surgical outcomes and anesthesia drugs
Evaluate and revise nursing interventions as needed

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
