Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Emergency Department
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available (cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage), unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must float within all sections of the ED
- Patient Experience: AIDET communication, respectful behavior, ongoing patient updates throughout visit
Required Certifications (Must have before start date)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – required within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 2 years as a nurse, with at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
- Additional Experience: 2 years’ experience in a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, with a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
- Preferred: Previous experience with HCA Healthcare system
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

- Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department
- Advanced clinical skills relevant to emergency nursing procedures
