Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Temp, Days

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive/assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment effectiveness and provide input for discharge summaries.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding physical disorders.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in the electronic documentation system.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
• Collaborate with supervising Physical Therapist to obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Adhere to APTA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.

Required Qualifications

• Active PTA license for the state of Missouri.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings.

Additional Information

• Productivity expectations: 90-93% for Assistants.
• Typical treatment times: ~30-35 minutes for Medicare A and Managed Care patients.
• Caseload may range from 7-12 patients per day depending on case mix.
• Group therapy is allowed and may be used to help with productivity.
• Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
