Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Newark, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide comprehensive care independently in all phases of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
- Experience required in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Newborn Nursery.
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
- Weekend coverage: Rotating every other weekend.
- On-call duties required.
- Floating within skillset required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients and Neonate patients.
- Experience in an Acute Care setting.
- Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Nursery.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Health and Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete the following within 5 days of contract signing:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually).
- Fit mask test (annual requirement).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year).
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season.
- Snellen eye exam (within 1 year).
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.
Background and Verification Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly.
- Education verification from primary source required (transcripts/diplomas if no verification on file).
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
- Employment application and work history verification required.
- References required for direct hire candidates (2 references within 3 years).
Additional Information
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as required.
- Color blindness testing required once.
- Photo for badge must be a clear, passport-style photo with a solid background.
Schedule and Workload
- 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each).
- Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
- Rotating weekend coverage every other weekend.
- On-call and floating responsibilities within skillset.
