Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Hours

  • Four 10-hour day shifts per week (40 hours total)
  • Shift times:
    • 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM (two 12-hour shifts)
    • 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM (two 8-hour shifts)
  • No weekends or holidays required
  • Call shifts available to pick up
  • Bi-campus coverage between two hospital campuses

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Active ARRT Radiography (R) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license or state ID matching legal name
  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, national sex offender, federal and state checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates
  • Verification of highest education level (transcripts may be required)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (clean-shaven required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
  • Required immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Tdap (highly preferred for certain specialties)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred

Training & Certifications

  • Completion of facility-specific training modules and attestations, including but not limited to:
    • Language Services Training
    • CAUTI Education Training
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
    • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (exceptions apply)
    • Stroke Education (exceptions apply)
    • CLABSI Prevention Training
    • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (exceptions apply)
    • Blood Administration Module (annual update required)
    • New Employee Orientation
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for Radiology Techs)
    • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% passing score
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, minimum 80% passing score
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for Interventional Radiology and related tech roles

Work History & References

  • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Verification of employment for last 7 years required
  • One supervisor reference within the past year required for ICU specialties (not applicable here)

  • Guaranteed hours
  • Return to office (RTO) restrictions: absences over 7 days require approval
  • Must provide primary source license verification within 30 days of start
  • Facility uses Epic for charting; EPIC testing or training may be required for some roles
  • Scrubs provided; parking fee applies
