Registered Nurse - Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7p-7a), weekdays and some weekends
Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may flex to 1:5 in emergencies
Unit Acuity: Stepdown unit with patients similar to Progressive Care or Telemetry patients in larger facilities; acuity varies

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit
• Must be able to read cardiac strips
• Experience with telemetry patients required
• Weekend block schedules considered (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
• Scrubs not provided; dress code includes burgundy and/or white

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

• Proof of RN license verification
• Candidate profile including work history
• Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• Minimum 2 clinical references within the past 2 years
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions
• Proof of required certifications on file prior to start (no pending certificates allowed)
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual updates)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules and competency exams prior to orientation
• Color blindness testing and competency exams as applicable
• Completion of ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys prior to start
• Compliance with facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., confidentiality agreements, parking pass, contractor forms)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be able to work night shifts with some weekend coverage
• Holiday time off requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• EMR system used: Cerner
• Candidates are expected to complete Cerner training modules prior to orientation
• Stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually) and NIH Stroke Certification required for some units (confirm if applicable)
