Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Support Unit (L&D/MB/Ante)
Location: Boise, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (06:45 PM – 07:30 AM)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week
Schedule:
- 4 shifts per week, no self-scheduling (shift trades allowed with manager approval)
- Weekend work every other weekend
- Occasional holiday shifts possible (travelers usually not scheduled)
- No call or standby requirements
Unit and Float Pool Information
- Float pool covers women’s services only: antepartum, labor & delivery (L&D), and postpartum
- Float assignments can be at any facility within the region (Boise, Meridian, Nampa)
- Travelers are first to float and may float mid-shift as needed
- Assignments communicated via app about 1 hour before shift start
- Facilities are approximately 20 minutes apart with safe parking available
Patient Population and Care
- Antepartum patients: gestation 22+ weeks
- L&D patients: conditions such as PPROM, placenta previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, twins, and other high-risk cases
- Full couplet care in postpartum (mother and baby together) with 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio following AWHONN guidelines
- RN responsibilities include independent transition of mom and baby postpartum if NICU unavailable, including car seat studies
- No requirement to circulate for C-sections or recovery RN duties, but OR circulation experience preferred
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA or ARC)
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS
- STABLE Certification
- AWHONN fetal monitoring classes (required for permanent staff)
Experience and Skills Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Antepartum
- No first-time travelers accepted
- Must be able to titrate drips (e.g., Pitocin, insulin, magnesium)
- Excellent communication skills required, including use of chain of command and resource utilization
- Ability to advocate for patients and maintain clear communication with leadership (managers not on-site)
Staffing and Support
- Charge nurse present on all units
- Surgical techs available occasionally, less frequent at night
- Respiratory therapy support limited to PPV troubleshooting; NICU resource available for deliveries
- OB laborist and neonatologist available 24/7 at one location with rapid access
- CRNA anesthesia coverage 24/7
- No telemetry/monitor techs on units; fetal and cardiac strips read by Tele Techs when patients are on telemetry
Orientation
- Orientation consists of 4-5 shifts across multiple sites covering L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and OR processes
- Includes orientation at Nampa, Meridian, and Boise locations

- Meridian location is central to all facilities and often recommended for housing
Note: This position requires flexibility to float within women’s services and across multiple facilities within the region.

L&D Unit is Traveler friendly for CST roll as well as RN roll. Work load is very manageable. Great staff support.
