Contract

• 13 weeks
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Ability to interpret EKGs
• Ability to titrate drips
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips

Recommended

• ACLS certification

Unit Details

• Cardio thoracic unit
• 70 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 on days, 1:5-6 on nights
• Common patient types include MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required
• No call or standby requirement at this time

Responsibilities

• Float to other general medical units
• Work with Cardizem and heparin drips
• Support CPAP and BiPAP when part of a patient’s home regimen
• May assist with heated high flow in special circumstances with COVID patients

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Negative drug screen required
• Submission requires the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off
• Orientation is typically 1 shift or part of one
• Scrubs may be any color except children’s or cartoon prints
