Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 4x10 (06:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks, any day scheduled
Weekend Hours: As required by facility

Job Summary

Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, assisting with vascular surgery and hybrid imaging cases. Work collaboratively with nurses and surgical techs for both endovascular and open procedures. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for all age groups, including outpatient to critical care inpatients. Maintain professional accountability and coordinate care with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes.

Unit Information

• Main OR with 22 beds, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) with 8 beds, Orthopedics with 10 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Equipment includes various devices and DaVinci surgical robot
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Competent in conscious sedation

Preferred Qualifications

• Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience

• Strong clinical expertise in OR nursing
• Demonstrated skill in human relations and communication
• Highly motivated self-starter

Physical and Working Conditions

• Frequent standing and walking during shifts
• Ability to lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Work environment is typically clean and air-conditioned
