Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Unit & Patient Population

• 54-bed medical surgical unit providing multidisciplinary care
• Patient populations include adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Conditions treated: renal, hepatic, respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, infectious diseases, cellulitis, COPD, diabetes, alcohol withdrawal, pneumonia, sepsis, and more

Work Schedule & Environment

• Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours guaranteed weekly)
• Call is not required
• May be required to float within competency level
• Must pick up one additional shift every 4 weeks
• Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
• Fast-paced, high-volume environment serving a large regional area
• Level 2 trauma center with stroke accreditation

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Accountable for individualized patient outcomes over entire episodes of care
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
• Address cognitive and psychosocial needs specific to patient populations
• Provide care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families/caregivers
• Intensive continuous mental effort required for safe patient care and decision-making

Additional Information

• The facility is a busy Level 2 trauma center with 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds
• Recognized for advanced care including heart failure, neurosciences, robotic surgery, and advanced imaging technologies
• Travelers may be subject to shift cancellations with 48 hours’ notice due to census fluctuations
