RN Oncology - Pediatrics

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse, Direct Care
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Provide nursing care to pediatric oncology patients under general supervision.
• Manage an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
• Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
• Make referrals for patient care needs and delegate tasks to support staff.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of pediatric hematology/oncology nursing experience within the last year.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Chemotherapy certification from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON).
• Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Skills

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Basic computer skills.
