Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirement

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department with a strong understanding of evidence-based practice, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform clinical procedures including IV insertion, Foley catheterization, and wound dressings.
  • Utilize telemetry monitoring, ventilators, and administer medications safely.
  • Accurately document patient assessments and changes in condition.
  • Educate patients and families effectively.
  • Act as a patient advocate and work both independently and collaboratively within the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accept constructive feedback, and complete assigned duties timely.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check including social security trace, county searches, sex offender search, and education verification.
  • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
  • Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and other sanction lists as applicable.
  • Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to California law).
  • Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days; employment verification required.
  • TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
  • Immunizations and/or titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
  • Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person by licensed provider).
  • Completion of facility-specific documents and trainings prior to start, including code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation.

Additional Information

  • ICU and telemetry RNs at this facility may be required to take an EKG competency exam onsite after start.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually.
  • Candidates must review and sign facility policies including dress code and standards of business conduct.
  • Religious exemptions for facial hair and certain vaccines may be considered with appropriate documentation and approval.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
