Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm) with possible variability to meet hospital needs
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing score required)
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- NIHSS certification required
- Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Additional Requirements
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
- Two professional references from within one year of start date required (from Manager, ANM, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director)
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (except OR nurses)
Notes
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Modules and onboarding must be completed prior to clearance to start
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed to meet operational needs
- Candidates must be prepared to work holidays as scheduled
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
