RN Cardiovascular Surgery

Overview

• Travel assignment in Asheville, North Carolina
• 13-week contract
• 36 hours per week
• Unit: CVOR
• Unit location: Heart Tower
• 6 ORs
• May float if needed, infrequent
• On-call shifts will be assigned and rotated among staff
• No first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS
• CVOR (2 years of experience)
• CVOR experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Extensive expertise and experience in the RN Circulator Role in cardiovascular surgery procedures including CABG, Valve Replacement, VAD Insertions, TAVR, VATS, Lobectomy, Pacemaker/AICD Insertions, Septal Myectomy, Ross Procedure, EVH, IABP Insertions, Femoral Cannulation, and Circulatory Arrest

Preferred Qualifications

• Scrub/first assist experience and proficiency

• CABG
• Valve Replacement

• VATS
• Lobectomy
• Pacemaker/AICD Insertions
• Septal Myectomy
• Ross Procedure
• EVH
• IABP Insertions
• Femoral Cannulation
• Circulatory Arrest

Unit details

• All cases require 1 scrub and 1 circulator
• Pump cases also require a first assist/Heart Holder, which can be an RN or CST
• Staffing includes 1 Unit Secretary, 1 Charge Nurse, 1 PCA, and 1 Core Tech
• Stryker equipment
• Cerner documentation system
• Hospital provides scrubs
• Hospital surgical attire policy must be followed
• Unit guidelines and policies will be provided during orientation
• Not a training facility for medical staff; cases are very efficient
