Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Alaska
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
Experience in a(n) Critical Care setting
Telemetry experience
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS

Unit Details

19-bed unit
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3:1
Fast-paced unit with rapid responses, ED admissions, and ICU transfers
Floating may include cardiac surgery IMC, med-tele, med-surg, and ortho-neuro

Common Patient Care / Skills

Bedside monitoring and IV pump management
High-flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, gastric tubes, and surgical drains
Emergent cardioversion
Experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPAP or long-term ventilator support is preferred
Experience with titratable drips is preferred
Experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment is preferred

Work Expectations

Bedside handoff is mandatory
Physical assessments, intake/output, hourly safety rounds, and repositioning/ADLs are part of routine care
Every other weekend required, or 4 weekend shifts per month
Delayed start may be used instead of on-call shifts if census is low

Additional Notes

AK RN fingerprints must be completed during onboarding before clearance to work
Navy blue scrubs required
