Unit Information

• Department: Emergency Department (ER)
• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios:

  • 4:1 typically for medical
  • Up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
• Unit Staffing Description:

  • Techs available for cardiac monitoring and internal processing
  • Unit clerks available days and nights
• Type of Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling Requirements:

  • Every other weekend
  • Must meet department needs (no block scheduling)
• Floating Policy: No floating outside of the ED, but must be open to floating within all sections of the ED.

Patient Experience Requirements

• AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)
• Respectful behavior towards patients
• Keeping boards updated with information and patient updates throughout visits

Certifications Required

• ACLS (before start date)
• BLS (before start date)
• PALS (before start date)
• TNCC (before start date)
• CPI (before start date)
• NIHSS (before start date)
• ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Experience in trauma care
• Experience in stroke care

Dress Code

• Required uniform: Navy scrubs
