Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Endocrinology/Infectious Disease
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Patient Ratio: 5:1
  • Floating: Not required
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • On-call: Not required
  • Patient Population/Diagnosis: Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, HIV, Infectious diseases

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of clinic experience, with clinic experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Endocrinology

Facility Highlights

  • Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, Magnet Hospital
  • 820 staffed beds
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • RN uniform: Solid Royal Blue or White top with Royal Blue bottoms

Work Hours

  • 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Local Candidates

  • Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Must include: SSN Trace, SC Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

Licensure Verification

  • Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC RN license or compact license
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Licensure hits must be approved by facility

Health and Safety

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low/negative titer
    • Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low/negative titer
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if previously positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)

Certifications

  • BLS required for all clinical candidates
  • ACLS required for specific units (verify applicability)
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, etc.) as required by unit

Competency Exams

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color blindness testing required prior to start
  • Competency exam required

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Upload COVID vaccination records if available; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
