Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day/Night)
- Day shift: 7am - 7:30pm
- Night shift: 7pm - 7:30am
- Shifts may rotate as needed to meet hospital operational needs
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (pass required)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in specialty prior to travel assignments
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
Compliance & Testing
- Pass Fail Testing (ECG & Medication) required during orientation
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Background & Health Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates starting 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
Documentation & Onboarding
- Must complete online training modules prior to start (takes multiple days, must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Modules include SafeMedicate prep materials and other facility-specific training
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Returning candidates with less than 40-day gap between assignments may have some requirements waived or extended
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed despite traveler preferences
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
