MS/Tele

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina.
• 13-week contract.
• Night shift: 4x12 hours, 18:45–7:15.
• Ratios: 1:6 for floor surgical/medicine inpatient patients.
• Combination acuity unit: Adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown.
• Float requirement: when needed to like units.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• Locals accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• 2 years of surgical unit experience
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Required skills:

  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Central line care/management
  • Peripheral Line Care/Management
  • Surgical drains
  • Nasal Cannula
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation Precautions
  • Wound Care/Wound Vac

Preferred

• Travel experience.
• Titrate cardiac drips.
• Titrate vasoactive drips.
• Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac

Unit Details

• Patient population includes surgical and trauma-related diagnoses.
• Common procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and Fem Pop Bypass.
• Special equipment includes wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains.

Scheduling and Orientation

• Schedule as needed.
• 2 days of hospital orientation and 24 hours of floor training.
• Scrubs: all navy or navy on bottom/white top.
