Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will be accountable for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, mentoring and precepting staff, and promoting quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. You will also supervise licensed and non-licensed staff and participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
Foster teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvements and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Acute care experience with spine and vascular specialties
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Experience in precepting and mentoring staff
