Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Missouri
Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Health and Safety Requirements

Physical exam within the last 12 months (not required annually)
Fit testing completed onsite at orientation
Negative TB test (PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and questionnaire required if positive TB history
Immunizations or documented immunity/declination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption with mask mandate
Drug screening within 30 days of start (not required annually) covering multiple substances

Background and Documentation

Background check within 30 days of start including:
- National criminal check
- State and county searches for 10 years of all addresses and aliases
- SSN trace with aliases
- National sex offender registry
- FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
Education verification with official transcript or diploma including graduation date
Missouri EDL search within 30 days of start
Employment application, skills checklist, and verification of most recent employer required
Two professional references within 3 years of start

Facility-Specific Requirements

Review and sign confidentiality agreement and code of conduct
Complete demographic form prior to start
Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84% before starting
AVADE training (onsite skills validation) required if extending beyond initial contract in certain units (stepdown, ICU, medical surgical, etc.)
Pass/fail testing and remediation process for EKG exam as applicable

Additional Notes

Locals accepted at a reduced rate within a 50-mile radius
Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position
