Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)
Location: Taos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)
Job Summary
Provide physical therapy evaluation and treatment for outpatient clients, including injured workers. Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians, perform various functional and ergonomic evaluations, and maintain communication with referring physicians and rehab nurses. Participate in marketing and community outreach as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients per physician referral or direct access
- Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians
- Perform Work Hardening Evaluations, Functional Capacity Evaluations, ergonomic evaluations, and post-offer testing (e.g., WorkSTEPS, APET)
- Utilize modalities and exercise equipment available in the facility
- Manage scheduling, referrals, and phone communications as needed
- Maintain accurate billing codes for various payer types
- Provide weekly updates to rehab nurses and timely notes to referring physicians
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, physicians, case managers, and other contacts
- Assist with business development and marketing efforts when patient load allows
- Participate in community events representing the facility
- Perform additional tasks as required for operational success
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- Experience in supervisory roles
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
