Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Average Daily Deliveries: 5
Start Date: ASAP
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call: No
Floating: Yes, may float to Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within scope
Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed

Job Description
- Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery
- Circulate and perform fetal heart monitoring (FHM) required
- Epic Stork experience required
- Scrub and OB assist preferred
- Use of special equipment including Triton for Quantitative Blood Loss (QBL), Surgicount, Monica Novii
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Heart Rate certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system, specifically Epic Stork
- Ability to circulate and perform fetal heart monitoring (FHM)
Experience & Travel Requirements
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- First-time travelers accepted

Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License (front and back copy)
- Background check including lifetime criminal and education verification (within 1 year prior to start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification of highest degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask (N95) certification updated annually, with attestation if needed
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility policy
- Annual TB questionnaire if history of positive TB
- Immunizations or immunity documentation required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days prior to start, including specific panels (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methamphetamines, opiates, oxycodone, PCP)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination documentation required or declination
Required Candidate History & Verification
- Two references required:
- One from current year of assignment
- One within last two years
- References must be from supervisors or equivalent who have directly supervised the candidate (no references from this facility or system)
- Employment application matching work history verification required
- Work history verification for minimum two years (10 years if only CRT license)
- Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates
Orientation & Facility-Specific Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific job description form
- Must sign confidentiality, code of conduct, and orientation packet prior to start
- Must complete Epic Experience Screening Form immediately after signing (time sensitive)
- Must complete WorkRamp modules within one week of signing (approx. 8 hours total)
- Modules required for nursing staff prior to start, with minimum passing scores on post-tests
Additional Notes
- No excessive time off requests allowed
- Guaranteed hours subject to billing rules
- Candidate may be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Facility does not guarantee block scheduling but is open to accommodation requests
