Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced telemetry unit. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, focusing on cardiac and medically complex patients. The RN will coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and deliver patient-centered services in a multidisciplinary environment.


Unit Description

  • Patient population includes treatment of:
    • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
    • Alcohol Withdrawal
    • NSTEMI (Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
    • Sepsis
    • Dysrhythmias
    • Pneumonia (PNA)
    • COPD
    • COVID-19
  • Post-procedure care for patients with pacemakers, ablations, cath lab procedures, and post-ICU cardiac surgery patients
  • Medications include non-titratable cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, Nitro
  • May float to Intensive Care Units, medical-surgical units, or other appropriate assignments based on competency

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days)
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • No call requirements, but may be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
  • Schedule may include weekends and holidays
  • Floating to other units may be required based on organizational needs and competency
  • The facility reserves the right to reduce shifts with 48 hours’ notice due to low census

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nevada prior to start
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Certifications required:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Work Environment

  • Extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a large regional area
  • Level II Trauma Center with Stroke accreditation
  • Hospital size: approximately 800 inpatient beds
  • Patient volume and pace comparable to a Level I trauma center
