Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel)

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), 4x10 hour shifts
Call Requirements: Minimum 1 weekday call per week, possible weekend rotation
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

Circulate surgeries in a 6-operating room unit within a 99-bed facility
Approximately 250-300 procedures per month
Patient ratio approximately 1:148
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR technicians, and other staff to provide patient care in the operating room
Responsibilities include ensuring supplies, case timeliness, communication with families, updating physician preference cards, scrubbing and assisting during surgeries, and supervising personnel delivering patient care
Must demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning and delivering care
Adhere to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, regulatory requirements, physician orders, and hospital policies

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
Experience in orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), plastic surgery, endoscopy, urology, and trauma surgeries

Additional Information

Facility is not approved for GHs
Call is required as part of the job responsibilities
