Radiation Therapist
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Administer radiation therapy according to physician instructions and patient treatment plans.
- Operate and adjust radiation therapy equipment, including data entry and dosage regulation.
- Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists in preparing radiation treatment plans based on patient condition and anatomy.
- Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered.
- Maintain patient and billing records, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
- Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low/high brachytherapy.
- Prepare equipment and treatment rooms for patients.
- Use appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety of patients, self, and others.
- Perform quality assurance procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Provide clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.
Work Schedule
- Shifts vary within clinic hours (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
- Typical shift length: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Radiation Therapist, with experience within the last year required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Elekta equipment preferred.

- Radiation therapy administration and dosage regulation.
- Equipment operation and adjustment.
- Patient immobilization device construction.
- Patient record maintenance.
- Performing routine and complex radiation therapy treatments.
- Quality assurance procedures.
- Clinical instruction and evaluation of students.
