Travel RN Opportunity - MICU Unit, Nashville, TN

Position Details

• Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 31
• Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1, can vary between 1:1 and 3:1 depending on patient acuity and staffing
• Staffing:

  • Unit secretary staffed during dayshift
  • Occasional nurse externs working as techs
• Equipment Used: Ventilators, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED), EV 1000 monitoring system
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Self-scheduling available to some extent
  • Manager may adjust shifts to balance schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract staff are first to float; may be required to float to med/surg units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification

Skills and Procedures

• Advanced skills expected
• Procedures performed on unit include:

  • Central line insertion
  • Arterial line insertion
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Chest tube insertions
  • EVD insertions

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
• Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and families

Experience Requirements

• Years of Specialty Experience: 2 years ICU experience required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified / not required
