Travel RN Opportunity - North Carolina (Brevard)

Position Details

Unit Information

• Unit: Acute Care Unit
• Number of Beds: 30
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge/CNC, 4-5 RNs/LPNs, 2-3 NAs
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge/CNC, 4-5 RNs/LPNs, 2-3 NAs
• Patient Ratios:

  • Stepdown/ICU: 2-4 patients per nurse
  • Med-Surg: 5-6 patients per nurse
  • 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on floor as appropriate
• Equipment Used: IV pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Nova Stat glucometer, wound vac, Baxter feeding pump, lift equipment, Pyxis (nurses only)
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner

Required Skills and Certifications

• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - must be completed prior to end of orientation
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - must be completed prior to end of orientation
• Preferred Experience:

  • ICU/Stepdown experience
  • At least 1 year of med/surg experience preferred
• Typical Procedures Performed:

  • IV starts, Central Venous Lines (CVL), Arterial lines
  • Foley catheter insertion and care
  • EKG monitoring
  • Wound care

Work Environment and Culture

• Fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Care for all levels from med/surg to ICU
• Team-Based Care model: daily interdisciplinary meetings involving MDs, nurses, case management, pharmacists, PT/OT to discuss patient care and discharge planning
• Dress Code: Nurses wear navy blue scrubs; Nursing Assistants wear galaxy/royal blue scrubs

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: 3 Mondays and Fridays per 6-week schedule
• Holidays scheduled per staffing matrix

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in the specialty
