Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ED)
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Emergency Department
- Number of Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 for medical patients; up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available (cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage), unit clerks on days and nights
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all ED sections
- Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
Required Certifications (Must have before start date)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an Emergency Room setting
- Additional Experience: 2 years’ experience in a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, with a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
- Preferred: Previous experience with HCA Healthcare system
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Lots of other travelers, nice approachable management that are on the floor in scrubs to help not criticize, updated cerner launch point, staff helps other staff, security is able to protect staff, PD is at hospital
Cons
Charge is only available to help with traumas otherwise they sit at their desk, techs assign pts to ER rooms making very heavy patient loads with multiple traumas with other nurse assignments being very light, not enough policies to protect nurses from verbal and physical violence from patients
