Medical Technologist - Travel/Contract

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Specialty: Laboratory (Blood Bank Focus)
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)

Job Details

  • This position primarily involves working in the blood bank.
  • Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) credentials are not accepted.
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice may be required.
  • Weekend schedule: Every third weekend.
  • No on-call responsibilities.
  • Contract length: 7 weeks.
  • Orientation hours are proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks).
  • Return to Office (RTO) requirement: maximum 7 days.
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler must work it.
    • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler must work both.
    • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler must work 2 of them.
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Medical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Medical Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment.

Compliance & Competency Requirements

  • Full compliance with all onboarding and credentialing requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling.
  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine fit before final approval.
  • Must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.
  • Competency exams required by the agency (not the client) include:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for RNs and LVNs only; not applicable here).
    • Color blindness testing (mandatory).
    • Other competency exams as applicable to specialty.

References & Verification

  • Two clinical references required.
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months required.

Additional Notes

  • This role does not accept Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT).
  • The traveler must be prepared to work assigned holidays as specified.
  • Floating duties may be assigned within the facility as needed.
  • Orientation hours and requirements scale with contract length.
