Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Assigned to Emergency Department (ED) Surge unit, specifically caring for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED.
  • Manage patients with diagnoses including chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, trauma, oncology, orthopedic overflow, post-cath with stent (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions.
  • Responsible for managing and titrating drips such as Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine.
  • Use specialized equipment including Bipap, Cpap, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, and Phillips Monitoring System.
  • Floating expectations include assisting with team nursing and patient sitting; will float to similar units but will not take patients outside clinical assignment or team.
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire.
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Stepdown nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start including:
    • Social Security verification
    • National sex offender registry search
    • National and state criminal searches (excluding NH counties; NH state police search required instead)
    • Education verification (transcript/diploma accepted if pending)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • State-specific registry results for New Hampshire (BAAS State Registry) required.
  • Facility-specific compliance attestations and immunization waiver forms as applicable.
  • Passport-style photo for badge.
  • Proof of auto insurance required if driving is part of job duties.

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have 2 years of experience and EPIC experience; no first-timers with only 1 year experience.
  • Floating and team nursing approach expected.
  • No prior travel experience required.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity ED stepdown cardiac environment with a focus on critical care drips and advanced cardiac patient management. Night shift and weekend rotation required.
