Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in an acute medical-surgical and rehabilitation setting.
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:6.
  • Work schedule: 36 hours on / 48 hours off (36/48 schedule).
  • Float within scope of practice required.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
  • Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kentucky.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 1 year of rehabilitation nursing experience within the last year.
  • Experience in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in a medical-surgical setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA (can pend with certificate of completion).
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RN specialties except OR and Psych).
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (not required for Psych, OR, Rehab, or true Med Surg).
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III).
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
  • Other certifications as applicable (e.g., PALS, TNCC) depending on unit assignment.

Health & Background Requirements

  • Annual physical exam or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, indicating clearance to work without restrictions.
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Blood Test) within 1 year prior to start; annual requirement.
  • Proof of immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific panel required).
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
  • Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, and other verifications within 30 days prior to start.
  • Work history verification covering 7 years.
  • Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor).

  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
  • Schedule and ratios may fluctuate based on census and call-ins.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
