Travel RN Opportunity - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED)
  • Facility Type: Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
  • Unit Size: 101 beds
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical; up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
  • Floating: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years as a nurse in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
    • At least 1 year of experience specifically in an Emergency Room setting
  • Certifications (required before start date):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License
  • Preferred: Previous experience with HCA Healthcare system

  • Ability to maintain updated patient boards and keep patients informed throughout their visit

  • Tech support available including cardiac monitoring and unit clerks on all shifts
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs required
