Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital operational needs.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's).
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (Instructor or Provider)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- NIHSS Stroke Certification (must be current and valid)
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
Licensure & Compliance
- Must have a valid Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand.
- Primary source verification of state license required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; declinations not accepted).
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers required. Boosters required if titers negative or equivocal.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination documentation required.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required; booster if negative/equivocal.
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31). Declinations not accepted.
Background & Screening
- Government-issued photo ID required on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search. Must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite. Candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Pass/fail ECG and medication SafeMedicate testing during orientation required for bedside RNs (except OR). Retake available after 1 week if needed.
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required.
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required.
Additional Requirements
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment.
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted).
- Candidates must be capable of safely performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Prior Travel Experience
- Travel experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry is accepted to meet recent experience requirement.
- No explicit prior travel experience required beyond this.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive health, certification, and compliance requirements.
