Registered Nurse – PCU

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
• Float assignment to MedSurg units
• Work settings include MedSurg/Telemetry, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown units
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Must be able to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Accepts first-time travel nurses
• Local radius for assignment: 60 miles

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Alabama Registered Nurse license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required based on unit (not required for MedSurg RN)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required based on unit
• National certification/verification as applicable by profession and state
• Primary source verification of state license prior to start
• NURSYS verification prior to start

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Telemetry experience
• Med Surg experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Background Checks

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years, including:

  • Social Security trace
  • State and nationwide criminal checks
  • National sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required, including all aliases
• Education verification required (official transcript, diploma, or third-party verification)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal not required for this client)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:

  • Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD within past 12 months) or chest x-ray follow-up if positive
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (rapid screen acceptable)

Additional Requirements

• Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start
• Competency exams as applicable to specialty
• Skills checklist required annually
