Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – IMC Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
  • Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday, every other weekend, and some holidays required.
  • Patient care areas include telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
  • Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Med Surg / Telemetry experience.
  • Experience in ventilator (vent) care.
  • Experience in cardiac care.
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Direct Observation Unit (DOU), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Stepdown units.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace and nationwide sex offender search. Background review required for any pending or convicted charges.
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form (state-mandated).
  • Education verification as applicable for nursing licensure.
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, or approved exemption.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if applicable.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season).
  • Physical exam (collected to meet agency standard, not facility-required).
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite.

Testing and Competency Exams

  • Telemetry Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required prior to start and annually.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
  • Facility-specific Telemetry exams assigned via LMS platform with remediation and retake policies.
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment and pass/fail testing acknowledgment required.

Additional Notes

  • Photo for badge must be submitted in specified format and meet facility guidelines.
  • Medical and religious exemption forms for vaccines require agency or facility approval with typical turnaround times.
  • References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required per agency standard.
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and critical care skills who are comfortable working night shifts in a progressive care setting and meeting rigorous compliance and testing standards.
