Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in North Carolina

Location

  • Burlington, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float: Required to float between all facilities within the system

Specialty & Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Patient Population & Unit

  • Inpatient department with a variety of patients having multiple co-morbidities
  • Specialized care focus on stroke (neurology) patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
  • Telemetry experience required: remote monitoring experience mandatory; on-unit monitoring preferred

Required Skills & Clinical Competencies

  • Pass/fail EKG exam required for all RNs
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Accessing ports, blood product administration
  • Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
  • Starting IVs
  • Care for CVA patients and nasal cannula management
  • Isolation precautions
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management
  • Experience accessing ports
  • Experience with central line care and management
  • Experience working with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
  • Acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
