Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Position Details

  • Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Rotation: Yes
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities as needed (agency staff float first)
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may cancel 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Local Travel: No local travelers accepted; 60-mile local radius

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
  • Cardiac and neuro experience, including cardiology and neurology expertise
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

  • First-time travelers: Not accepted; prior travel experience required
  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually confirming ability to meet job demands
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination or declination accepted)
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days; chest x-ray if positive)
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
    • Annual respirator medical clearance required for patient-facing staff
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers preferred (not required for this facility)

Orientation and Facility Specifics

  • Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4 hours for this location
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo required
  • Acknowledgments and Agreements: Candidates must review and sign facility-specific documents including assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, and HIPAA confidentiality agreement prior to start
  • User Access: User access request form must be completed
  • Emergency Preparedness: During hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; consider this before accepting assignment
