Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Day, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:6; may flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: Yes, as needed for low census
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Rapid Response
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam updated annually confirming ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (flu declinations not accepted)
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Annual respirator medical clearance required for patient-facing roles
• References: Two clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
• Photo: Passport-style photo for badge required

Orientation and Facility Policies

• Completion of assigned orientation modules (approximately 4 hours) prior to start is mandatory
• Must sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Assignment Acknowledgment
  • Code of Conduct
  • Employee Confidentiality Agreement
  • HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
  • Systems User Agreement
• Free parking available onsite

Scheduling and Work Conditions

• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• No local candidates accepted (must be traveling)
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local radius for travel is 60 miles
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid new or extension assignments during peak months (August–September) if this is a concern

• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
• Radiation badge is not required for this position
• IV certification is not specified as required for this RN role
